The start and finish point of the hike (marked in white-red-white) is Vergeletto, the characteristic village known for its mill and the production of Farina Bóna. The village is accessible by car or by bus (bus towards Spruga with change at Russo). The mountain trail starts at Pascolo dell’Oviga; from Pièi it becomes steeper. You first cross a forest of beeches and birches, then from Alpe del Pianaccio, a larch forest that takes on beautiful golden hues in autumn. The trail climbs up to Capanna Ribia. To cross a short passage (slippery when wet), a chain has been installed. The unattended hut (open from June to October) has a kitchen, wood stove, toilet, electricity and beverages. From the hut you can see the “Uomo Tondo”, a large stone soldier in front of which you pass to reach Alpe di Categn. The descent towards Vergeletto follows the river through the wild and romantic valleys of Fümegn and Camana.
