Russo is a small village in the middle of the Onsernone Valley, reachable by car or bus. In Russo there is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta to visit, one of the oldest churches in the valley. A gentle up and down through the woods on a beautiful flagstone path leads to Barione, a hamlet with the pretty oratory of Santa Maria Nascente. When the forest clears, you have a good view of the little villages clinging to the hillside and the enchanting valley that lies at your feet. A short descent leads from Barione back down to the main road to Mosogno, where the bus leaves. If you still have time, a short visit to the village centre of Mosogno di Sotto is worthwhile. A short, easy hike on a red and white marked mountain trail - ideal if you want to take it easy or don't have so much time.
