It is a journey into the world of sacred art, which is very common in the Locarno region. So, it is no coincidence that paintings of great value can be found in the most remote places. This first section of the three-day tour starts in the village of Maggia, where you can admire the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (bus stop Aurigeno-Moghegno). In the village, cross the imposing suspension bridge to Moghegno and the climb begins. The first few metres are on asphalt, then on a gravel road. Once on the hiking trail, the path climbs steadily upwards to Cortón. At the top, you are greeted by a large hamlet with many houses. In just over an hour, you reach the Passo della Garina, the crossing to the Onsernone Valley. The descent to Loco leads past various beautiful hamlets, offers wonderful views and unspoilt nature to enjoy the silence. In Loco, a visit to the church of San Remigio with its characteristic frescoes is worthwhile.
