Barbara Babo has exhibited in galleries in Switzerland and Germany and now is working for the most time in Ascona. She has made a name for herself with her classically elegant female sculptures, but for several years now, motivated by the nature of Ticino, painting has taken center stage.
“Everything about this southern setting inspires me, the sculptural trees, the tropical forests, the herbs, the whole aura,” says the artist about her current series “Verde/The Green Land.”
The large-format paintings depict a suggestive Ticino of the imagination, and the mix of impressionism and abstraction produces an unexpectedly contemporary effect. The artist is showing a selection of new works in her exhibition in Ascona until October 28, 2023.
