Every lap counts

Ogni giro conta” (Every lap counts) was born out of a desire to provide a future for the sports and youth movement in the Upper Maggia Valley in the wake of the extreme weather events at the end of June 2024. Ajla Del Ponte, born and raised in Bignasco, began her sports career right in Prato-Sornico, on the ice rink that was recently destroyed. The charity event thus comes from her desire to bring a contribution to the places of her childhood and, above all, to enable young sportsmen and women in Vallemaggia to follow their dreams, as she was able to do.

Together with US Ascona, Ajla has joined HCAP and HC Rivers and invites the people of Ticino to run at the National Youth Sports Center (CST) in Tenero on September 8, 2024 during Sportissima. In this way, through movement and community unity, important funds can be raised to support sports clubs in the Upper Maggia Valley.

The holding of the event involves a donation made according to the laps run by participants: each participant finds private sponsors/donors who commit to a payment of x CHF/lap made by those who participate. The event is open to everyone, and in addition to running on foot, one can also participate by wheelchair and roller skates.

The event, will take place in all weather conditions from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the athletic track. One can pre-register, it will still be possible to register on site. Participants are advised of the opportunity to take advantage, thanks to Sportissima, of a 20% discount on public transportation throughout the canton, in fact, it is possible to purchase the special "Ticino event" ticket in the "other tickets" category at the sales counters.
