The Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway presents the most exciting journey on board the Foliage Train, in the season of the most beautiful colours, between Italy and Switzerland.
Foliage and slowness. A perfect combination for those who, at the beginning of autumn, decide to spend a few hours or an entire weekend discovering places, scents, colors and emotions. Because of the slow journey of the Foliage Train, on the panoramic railway that connects Domodossola, in the upper Piedmont, to Locarno, on Lake Maggiore Swiss shore, contains these simple and genuine ingredients.

Attracting thousands of passengers every season, the “Foliage Train” has become an extremely popular autumn experience over recent years.
Our route resembles a colourful painting at this time of year thanks to the transformation of the woodland that the characteristic blue and white trains pass through on a daily basis.
Once an hour, international trains (Vigezzo Vision and Centovalli Express), linking Domodossola to the elegant Swiss town of Locarno, overlooking Lake Maggiore, make their way through the Valle Vigezzo and the Centovalli, travelling along a 52-km route with spectacular views and panoramas ignited by autumn colours.
For those choosing to travel on a Centovalli Express, this journey will be made even more memorable by the brand-new audio guides available free of charge.
The ticket is valid for one or two days and covers a return journey from terminus to terminus, with the opportunity to make one stop on the outward journey and one on the return journey, giving you the chance to visit some of the fascinating locations along the route.
