Standing at 925m, Monte Bré is considered the sunniest mountain in Switzerland. At the top of the sun-kissed mountain, visitors can find two restaurants with terrace where visitors can have an awe-inspiring view of the Lake of Lugano. The splendid natural and archaeological trail to Gandria provides picturesque views which is an uplifting and a must-do activity on Monte Bré.
Monte Bre is also a remarkable viewpoint with panoramic views of the Pennine and Bernese Alps. The views stretch to Monte Rosa and as far as the Maritime Alps in Italy. It also serves as one of the best spots of admiring the city of Lugano and the lake in its full glory.
The "Art's route" is a decoration of the town centre with several artworks has the intent of getting a vaster public acquainted with this charming village, where such artists like Pasquale Gilardi (1885-1934), Wilhelm Schmid (1892-1971) and Josef Birò (1887-1975) lived. The artistic path starts in the square in front of the church, passes through the centre of Brè and offers visitors the opportunity of admiring the artworks of famous artists, renowned both at the national and international level. Besides the town’s artistic decoration, at Brè it’s possible to admire many other noteworthy works of art.
Several picnic spots can be encountered on Monte Bré which provide playgrounds for children and barbecuing facilities. Along the way to the top, you not only travel through history in a 1908 built cable car, but also come across the enchanting Bré village where various grottos can found where traditional cuisine can be tried in a ticinese styled ambience.
