Along the lake (Minusio-Locarno)

Description of the itinerary:

A magnificent panoramic route along the shores of Lago Maggiore. Following the lakeside path from Minusio to Muralto and Locarno, you will reach the Camellia Park, not far from the delta of the Maggia river. It is an easy route, entirely flat, mostly on sidewalks and roads exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists.
From the port of Minusio walk towards Locarno, following the footpath that runs alongside the lake. Among a multitude of villas you can admire the impressive 'Ca' di ferro', built in the middle of the sixteenth century as barracks of mercenaries: one of the most important historic buildings in the region. A little further on you will reach Rivapiana, characterized by cozy green areas and small sandy beaches. There you will find the church of San Quirico, embedded in the park of the homonymous villa. Next stop is the lakeside of Muralto, where there are excellent restaurants offering local cuisine. There is a large playground in the area where the children can have fun. After passing the pier in Locarno the path follows on to the regional yachting port and past the beautiful Arp gardens, the Lido of Locarno, open all year round thanks to its indoor and outdoor swimming pools and further past the Parco della Pace, a true oasis of tranquility. Finally you will reach the Camellia Park.
The itinerary is ideal for walks all year-round and can also be made in the opposite direction, starting from Locarno. Both locations, easily accessible by public transport, also offer large parking lots.
