The Onsernone valley is known for its irresistible charm, wild nature, customs and traditions. It also offers an insight into a time when life was tough in the mountains. Full of twists and turns (300 bends!), the route climbs the Onsernone valley to Spruga. There are plenty of places to take a breather along its 21 km, including the Torchio di Cavigliano (a 17th century grape press), the Museo Onsernonese ethnographic museum in Loco, the "Pagliarte" straw processing workshop in Berzona, and the village of Comologno. The route is also very popular with road cyclists. There are some restaurants on the route. The return trip to Verscio follows the same route.
