Explanation

Selected alternatives for you
From Gerra Piano on the Magadino plain – the main area for growing vegetables and cereals in the canton of Ticino – to Monti di Motti, a popular destination, a road takes you through beautiful scenery, dense forests and pretty hamlets, climbing 800 metres over 12 km.

The road winds its way uphill from Agarone to the hamlet of Ditto (a.k.a. Monti di Ditto), less than 5 km to the top. Just below Monti di Motti, on the left, is a bench offering a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore. Worth visiting in Monti di Motti are the Osteria Grotto Monti Motti restaurant, the small lake overlooking the Valle Verzasca and a church. A hiking trail to Monte Sassariente starts from here, too. Head back to Gerra Piano following the same route.
