Explanation
The Lodano Valley, with its ancient beech woods, is home to a rich flora and fauna and has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The red-and-white waymarked path starts by entering the woods at Lodano and climbing up to Castello, a large clearing with a stream and numerous rustici – just the spot place for a break.
The long route to Alp da Canaa is always uphill and crosses the heart of the beech wood where you can admire centuries-old trees; once you arrive, you have a view can over the entire lower Vallemaggia. The Alp da Canaa Hut, restored in 2005, is open from about mid-May to the end of October. Those who wish to do the hike in 2 days can stay there by reservation.
The descent in the direction of Solàda first leads to Alp di Pii, where you will find a small a small biotope. From the panoramic viewpoint just above, you can enjoy a boundless view of the valley to the north and south. Then you continue to descend through the woods until you reach the road, crossing the vineyards to return to Lodano.

Day 2: Alp da Canaa - Alp di Pii - Solada - Lodano, 8 km, 3h 10 min.
