The Capanna Alpe Canaa is a cosy hut at the foot of Pizzo Cramalina, with a unique view over the Valle di Lodano, whose ancient beech trees have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Alpe Canaa, the trail runs below Pizzo della Bassa to the pass of the same name, the crossing into the Onsernone Valley. The descent to the idyllic village of Vergeletto leads via Gresso. The smell of popcorn wafts into your nose from afar. The reason for this is the mill in Vergeletto, where Farina Bóna, roasted corn flour, is still produced in the traditional way. From Vergeletto the cable car goes up to Alpe Salei. Salei is a popular destination for hikers because of its beauty and good positioning. Just a short walk from the mountain station is the enchanting mountain lake Laghett di Salei, a jewel surrounded by larches and rocks. After a long day in nature, the Capanna Alpe Salei offers every comfort for the night.
