Christmas Concert

Brissago

17.12.2023

With the Christmas concert of the Calicantus Choir, on Sunday 17 December starting at 16.00 in the parish church SS. Peter and Paul in Brissago, the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the choir's foundation will come to a close. Thirty years ago, on 16 December 1993, this musical reality was born in the small Arcegno church, which over the years has become an educational and artistic model on an international scale. Three decades that have brought more than 1500 children closer to music, many of whom have become teachers, social and health workers, artists, musicologists and more.
Calicantus represented Switzerland at the Festival 'World of children's choirs' in Canada in 2001 as well as on more than 150 tours throughout Europe. He has won several awards, including 1st prize at Swiss competitions in 2005, 2007 and 2013. In 2008, he was named 'The biggest joy in Copenhagen' at the 8th World Symposium on Choral Music in Copenhagen. From 2010 to 2018, he won and was awarded Grand Prix at international competitions in Montreux, Rimini, Prague and Cattolica. The mission that drives the Calicantus Choir, in addition to the artistic and cultural development of young people, has since the early years resulted in numerous charitable initiatives for the protection of children, in particular with Doctors without Borders.
The concert is sponsored by the Culture and Tourism Commission of Brissago. Admission free with welcome offers in favour of the Alessia Association. At the end Christmas toast with panettonata.
