Arte e spiritualità: Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn, fondatrice di Eranos

Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn, the founder of the Eranos Conferences, was convinced that "the deepest things of human life [...] can only be expressed in images". In her paintings, she documented her deepest intuitions and fantasies, which offer an extraordinary and current testimony to the universality of the processes of inner transformation. The unpublished anthology of her works, which we steal under the name of "Blue Book", includes a series of "Meditation Tables", painted between 1926 and 1934, which are expressed through geometric rigor, and a series of "Visions", drawn between 1934 and 1938: these are the crucial years of the beginning of Eranos, her lasting intellectual relationship with the psychologist Carl Gustav Jung and her search for iconographic material, entrusted to her by Jung himself, which led to the creation of the Eranos Archive for Research on Symbolism. A selection of these works is on display as part of the monographic exhibition “Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn: Artista – Ricercatrice”, set up at the Casa Rusca Museum in Locarno, from 8 August 2024 to 12 January 2025, and now documented in a rich catalogue.

At the conference «Art and spirituality: Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn, founder of Eranos», organized on the occasion of the publication of the monograph “Olga Fröbe-Kapteyn: Artista – Ricercatrice”, will speak Yasmin Afschar, Riccardo Bernardini, Raphael Gygax, Fabio Merlini and Sara Petrucci, with introductory greetings by Nicoletta Mongini and Sébastien Peter.

Followed by an aperitif.
