Locarno Film Festival 2025

Locarno Film Festival is the most significant cinematographic event in Switzerland and among the most important in Europe. Numerous are the movies presented in four different sections: Concorso Internazionale, Cineasti del Presente, Pardi di Domani and First Feature.

The heart of the festival is the daily evening projection in the magnificent Piazza Grande, which transforms itself into the "most beautiful open-air cinema". Producers, directors and actors who come to Locarno to present their films roam the red carpet and add a touch of glamour to the festival. In addition to the Piazza Grande, there will be projections in 12 other cinemas in the city.

Between a screening, a forum and a drink there are numerous opportunities for entertainment and fun: the Ascona-Locarno region with its lake, the rivers, botanical gardens, valleys and mountains will offer you unforgettable moments.

Rotonda by la Mobiliare
The "Rotonda", as the gigantic roundabout at the entrance to the city of Locarno is called, is transformed into an open-air cultural space during the Locarno Film Festival. Artists show their creativity here by painting in front of the public, great music groups and DJs lead the way through the evening with lots of energy and a wide-ranging music programme, children have fun in an area specially designed for them, and food trucks with regional and exotic culinary delicacies and bars keep bellies full.
